Dear KDSF and Donors,

A couple of nights ago, as I had just finished cleaning the dishes, I remember hearing an extremely loud “ding” from my phone. At that moment, I didn’t overthink it – I just assumed that it was another notification from Instagram or Facebook. I walked to my desk to check my phone, and when I tapped on the screen, a notification that said “1 new email” popped up. Receiving an email didn’t come to me as a big surprise because I have been receiving so many promotions and spam emails.

However, when I took a look at the inbox and saw that I had received an email from the KDSF, I felt my heart beating faster and faster until it felt like it was beating out of my chest. I still recall pressing on the email with my shaking hands to read the words “We are pleased to inform you that you have been selected as a recipient of the 2020 Kingdom Dreamer Scholarship.” I couldn’t get past through those sentences because of the excitement and the rush of emotions that I was feeling – feelings of relief as well as gratitude and motivation. I found myself reading through the sentence multiple times to make sure I was reading it correctly, and after rereading those sentences quite a few times, I proceeded to read the rest of the email.

There are not enough words that I can use to portray my gratitude to be selected for this scholarship. As a child of a low-income family of five, my family has always lived in the grips of financial struggle. Especially with the coronavirus pandemic, we have been immensely affected making it harder for us to get by day by day. My parents were anxious about my college bill because they didn’t know how they would be able to help me pay for my school fees. However, because of the generosity of the Kingdom Dreamer Scholarship Foundation and all of the donors, my parents and I have less to worry about. We adamantly believe that this is a blessing from God and a testament of His goodness.

To me, receiving this scholarship isn’t just about receiving aid for my school costs. Even though that is a huge factor in receiving this scholarship, an even greater thing is that this scholarship re-instilled a sense of confidence in my abilities and my motivation for my future. I am reassured to know that there is a group of people that believe in my potential, and that wants to see me go all the way until I achieve my life-long goals of advancing the Kingdom of God.Thank you for granting peace and joy to my family and me.

Thank you for the boost of confidence so that I can thrive in college and beyond. I will venture on to become an exceptional cardiologist, medical missionary, and a compassionate servant-leader and make sure to pass on this act of giving to the next generation of believers.

With the utmost gratitude and respect,
Sehee Oh
