Dear Kingdom Dream Scholarship Donors,

My name is Ellen Ham and I have been privileged to receive a KDSF scholarship this year. This year has truly been challenging for us all, and so I am all the more grateful for such generous donors as yourselves. I hope that I, too, can one day pass down this blessing of supporting the younger generation of Kingdom dreamers.

A bit of a back story: my mother, a divorcee, raised my sister and me for the past 16 years of our lives. We have been frugal with our spending all these years; never able to go on a single, proper vacation, but we were happy as a family. My mother also took care of my grandma for 12 years. Because of the financial burden we faced as a family, I started working part-time in high school about 7 years ago to eliminate any of my expenses. Throughout college, I rarely stopped working and eventually picked up a full-time job because my mother’s business was struggling. It was honestly very difficult, and I deeply envied my friends who never had to work through their studies. However, it was a blessing to be able to support my mother when she, too, was going through such difficult times.

Fast forward to 2020: I quit my full-time job in January because the workload was really taking a toll on my studies and decided to work part-time at Korean BBQ. Then COVID-19 happened and I haven’t been able to work much for the most part of this year. I ended up selling my car because I didn’t need to drive anywhere often enough and I wanted to save money. Studying during this pandemic has truly been a nightmare, but I am thankful that I could study without having to work. A restless year it has been, but still the blessings in disguise are evident.

All this to say how truly grateful I am for supporters and builder-uppers such as yourselves. I know we are not to worry about tomorrow, but I am only human and sinful in that. And though I do not know your faces or names, I sincerely thank you for your generosity and kindness to build us up as the new generation of dreamers. Through your blessings, I remember that my Father is watching over me and I am not overlooked. I pray that our Father will continue to use you and pour out His blessings by tenfold over you and your households. Again, thank you so much and God bless you!

In Him,
Ellen Ham
